We have a current opening for a System Engineer
to provide technical resources to the Versant Sales Team in the NothEastern US region.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the Versant Systems Engineer involves the technical side of selling the industry-leading object database using your knowledge and understanding of object technology and database systems, presentation ability, technical and development experience, performance benchmarking, interpersonal skills and an understanding of the sales process.

JOB ACTIVITIES

Pre-Sales Support
• Provide technical support to the Sales Representatives. Assist them in customer qualification and with account sales strategy
• Prepare and deliver presentations and demonstrations of all products in the Versant product line
• Answer in-depth technical questions
• Work with Sales prospects during product evaluation, including training, benchmarking, prototyping and project success strategy using Versant products

Post-Sales Support

• Act as technical resource for customers to help ensure project success
• Ensure customers' technical satisfaction and correct implementation of account support strategy

Customer Training

• Provide informal training to customers on the usage of Versant products
• Teach the Versant training class(es) to customers (on occasion)

Provide Field Input To Versant Corporate

• Provide feedback to Versant Corporate Marketing staff on products and industry
• Assist our installed base of users with their use of Versant products
• Provide input for ongoing product development

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Computer Science
• 3 or more years of experience in software development and implementation
• Proficiency with the C Programming Language
• Expertise in an Object Programming Language
• Knowledge of UNIX and PC-based operating systems
• Knowledge of database architecture and use is preferred
• 1 or more years of Sales-related experience preferable
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to convey ideas in a positive, clear, and concise manner
• Excellent people and listening skills
• Ability to build and maintain trusting relationships with customers
• Ability to travel
• Self-motivated and desire to learn
